CHOCOLATE ICINGthis is a recipe for making chocolate oicing taken from an old cookbook pubished before the 1900s. Nitice how it assumes that you already know how to make vanilla icing and does not rpovide instructions. The reason for this is that in those days everyone knew how to bake and cook. Much of that knowledge has been lost now. Make a vanilla icing, and add one tablespoonful of cold water to it. Scrape fine one ounce of Walter Baker & Co.'s Premium No. 1 Chocolate, and put it in a small iron or granite-ware saucepan, with two tablespoonfuls of confectioners' sugar and one tablespoonful of hot water. Stir over a hot fire until smooth and glossy, then add another tablespoonful of hot water. Stir the dissolved chocolate into the vanilla icing. These old fashioned chocolate recipes are taken from the classic cookbook: Chocolate and Cocoa Recipes and Home Made Candy Recipes. View more recipes [index]. |
